Everyone is different, one drug may help some people but could be a nightmare for you. You won’t know until you try them. Just remember, most of the drugs they put you on are antidepressants that need to be taken daily and can be hard to get off of when you want to stop taking them.

Hi. I have been on just about every prescription drug these DRs suggest trying for Fibro pain & honestly, not 1 of them worked great for me & some of them were even downright bad for me. Right now I am on Misoprostol w/ moderate relief. I had some luck w/Tramadol years ago but I couldnt remain on it very long due to major stomach issues. Many of the antidepressants cause weight gain too. Have you considered trying medical marijuana? That is what has helped me the most when my pain is bad. If it is legal (recreational marijuana) in your state, you can try it out now & decide for yourself. If it isnt legal in your state, you can apply to get a medical certificate through your doctor ( if your doctor supports this.) There is a state fee required to get a medical certificate plus the cost of the product at a medical marijuana dispensary. As others have already stated, what works for one person may not work for the other. There is alot of experimentation involved with prescription drugs over time to try to find the drug that may work for you. Good luck in your search.

I have been taking lyrica and duloxetine. Its not a cure but it has made a significant improvement in my pain and symptoms. I remember how bad it was before I took them both and I never want to go back to that.

This also is true of all medications. Everything you take reacts differently for every person.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, medical marijuana is not the “best” choice for everyone. Also, marijuana has several side effects and managing pain is not one of them. It doesn’t do anything for my pain, but it does make me very sleepy and increases my anxiety. Those are only a few of the side effects it can cause. Just because you don’t get any side effects from marijuana, you shouldn’t be telling others that there isn’t any.
