Members discussed their experiences with metformin for fibromyalgia after someone shared a promising article about the drug potentially reducing FM symptoms based on insulin resistance theory. Several members who take metformin for Type 2 diabetes reported it provided no noticeable relief for their fibromyalgia pain, while one member described severe side effects including elevated blood pressure, increased heart rate, and unexpected weight gain that led them to discontinue the medication. A recurring theme was curiosity about off-label uses of medications originally designed for other conditions, balanced with caution about adding new side effects to an already challenging symptom list.

Thanks for sharing your experience Christina. Sounds like you had a horrible time with it. I read the side effects which are unpleasant if experienced.
Sarah, yes this is a common drug prescribed for Type 2 Diabetes.
Zelda, please tell us what your pain doctor says.
It sounds promising.
