A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Every single friend and family member has dropped off. I have nobody who understands what I am going through at all so I get a lot of rejection and criticism.

Mayos two week
Pain clinic had three 1 hour lectures a day on every phase of life . For the problem of isolation , they recommended that you initiate plans with friends . Socialization was one of their 9 points of self care . They gave an example of friends planning a walk . They might not think you are up to it , so you need to let them know that you can do portions of the harder things . You can go part way, then stop and tell them you will meet them on their way back . They gave many ways to deal . I recommend their pain clinic . They don’t treat , but they answer all the questions that people post here plus stretches and exercises and distraction therapy

Unfortunately so many people don't understand anything about Fibromyalgia and that includes some Doctors and Rheumatologist.

I don't have any Friends that I can speak to face to face only the wonderful Sisters and Brothers on this Website.

The only person I have is my husband and he doesn't always understand either.

Because Fibromyalgia is an invisible illness because you can look good on outside means you must be alright on the inside.

It's so very frustrating, concentrate on your own bodies needs follow a regime of Medication, Natural Therapies and Diet that can help You, because we are all different what works for one person won't work for someone else.

I find the best way is to say nothing about it. People have their own problems. Keep interested in What is going on around you, read papers, watch the news, keep up to date on currents issues. Avoid talking about your health because people really don’t want to know, its boring and they can’t make it any better for you.
I am in constant pain, take no medication, I just live with it.
I am never lonely or alone in fact I look forward to a day off so I can just watch the Rugby

i find the problems are people suddenly find us as boring i think because we are stuck in a lot we dont have anything new to talk about and i think that when it starts, i know my family dont really understand and that really anoys me at times . But if you think about it how can anyone really understand unless they have had this horrilble illness, so you cant really blame them just accept that is how it will be and it doesnt matter how much you explain they simply wont get it so just accept it otherwise you will drive your self insane. and with friends if they dont stick around well they were not worth knowing in the first place, they were not your real friends in the first place.and part of this illness seems to make us want to isolate and shut people out but try hard not to let that happen, because then it will just spiral out of control , i find if people come around i keep it short and sweet that way i can deal with it that has worked for me so give it a go but dont blame anyone as it really is no bodys thought including your own.
