I have inquired about a wheelchair for part-time use from two different rheumatologist who have declined. 1. From previous experience thier patient ended up using it all the time. 2nd. Feels excercise is the best medicine for fibro. Neither have been able to answer the question of how to get around on bad days until I build up a tolerance for walking longer distances again. If you have a chair or scooter did u pay out of pocket or what approach did u take to get the doctor to prescribe it?
I purchased it on Amazon
For $164
It is called:
Drive medical Rebel lightweight wheelchair.
It has been great. Fits in the trunk and is easy to push.
I borrowed one several weeks from Red Cross loan...for a donation (in Canada). Then liked it so much I bought one 2nd hand for 100$. My doc also said he didnt want me to,but it was essential so often. It turns out my condition did get worse but likely wouldn't have if I knew right exercises...posture can be bad while sitting esp.
Hello, I had hip surgery last year. We have a place in Stone Mountain Ga. that will let you get any kind of medical equipment for 25.00 a year. It is called FODAC Friends of Disabled Adults an Children. Maybe it is something in your area. I hope that this will help.
Good day
About a yr ago I had so much trouble walking so I bought one from goodwill and have a walker to use at home if I need to. I actually had asked my Dr if I could get a handicap sticker, he said no exercise is good for you. I really think the walker helped though. I used it inside the house just to build strength on my legs.
I use it when we travel. That way I get to go and see more places. I am not limited to my stamina or leg pain. Sitting by the ocean is beautiful, wheelchair or not.
It is my backup mobile unit. I push it myself as long as I can, then I jump on board for a ride.
