Is A Vacation Still Possible?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

My husband and I have been discussing going to Yellowstone National Park, a place I have always wanted to go. Since my fibro has gotten worse, I’m afraid I won’t be able enjoy it.. any tips for taking vacations?

Being from Montana originally--there's alot of walking involved in going to Yellowstone once you get out of the car (the initial drive in is windows up because of all the bears and other critters that want to see if they can get food) But around the lodge, It's all walkways around the mudpots and morning glory pools. I'd call ahead and see if they have any mobility scooters that they rent--it'd make it a whole lot easier. Plus their hiking trails aren't for beginners so you might want to consider that. Also, depending on where you're from, plan on getting there in advance and staying a bit to adjust to the altitude Even when I head back now to my family ranch, it's a change of 5000 feet and I have a few days where I'm terribly sleepy from a minor form of altitude sickness. And dress for all 4 seasons--because sometimes we can get all 4 in one day lol

We privately purchased a wheelchair specifically for long outings. It has been a lifesaver for sure. I was able to enjoy a wintertime trip that i never would have been able to do without it. 🙂
