Has Anyone Been Reading About The Small Fiber Nerve Damage In Fibromyalgia?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Since doing a lot of newer research , of the new findings,,I think I am putting a lot more together, in my head, about Fibromyalgia nerve damage. It seems since the brain and inside the central nervous system is causing the small fiber nerve damage. The small fiber nerves has no protection ( no myelin sheath around the nerves ) like in MS.the larger nerves have myelin sheath to protect the nerves. In Fibromyalgia it affects the peripheral nervous system..which includes hands,feet,eye..limbs.,which… read more

Gabapentin is a nasty drug, many of my patients could not tolerate it. (was an RN) Another interesting read is the book by Anthony William Medical Medium, called Secrets behind medical mystery illness and how to heal". He attributes Fibro, MS, all autoimmune disorders to Epstein barre virus, which once you have it ,it just stays in your body growing and doing more damage. I couldn't put it down because it's explanations followed my medical path to fibro and more, spot on. I didn't realize that it's passed on maternally also. Worth reading in my opinion. Explains so much

You mentioned your hope that new medications will be revealed to treat our condition and I want to share with you that I just began a new "creative" combination of meds to try and address the small nerve issue... low dose naltrexone (LDN) and gabapentin. The crucial thing is that I take them simultaneously.

It's been mere days so there is nothing to report but the good news is that there are very few side effects. Zero side effects to the LDN and tiredness and a bit of physical imbalance with gaba which I anticipate will reduce over time. I take them together at night before bedtime.

It's an atypical combination. My doctor didn't suggest it. I am doing it on my own after I found some research to support it. I feel that it's a valuable decision to experiment because if it helps me it has the potential to help hundreds more.

I'll keep you posted if you like.

Yes it seems they are getting closer @KalseyStarrUmble..lets keep our fingers crossed...they have been studying the small nerves under the hands..feet..eyes..etc and have been finding out the small nerve damage is
visible compared to healthy people...and there is a big difference.,seems people with Fibro the small fiber nerves are thinner..

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I say this out of concern. These are two serious prescription medications to be taking & especially to be experimenting with. How do you have a prescription for the Vivitrol? Being an advocate for ourselves is very different than experimenting with serious medications. Please be careful.
