Fibromyalgia And Cycling
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi everyone,

Before I had Fibromyalgia, I used to love biking and cycling around, just the freedom and the wind through your hair. I want to try and have a go, but I'm aware I will possibly flare up but was going to take it baby step at a time. But I was wondering whether anyone here has taken up cycling and how you managed alongside fibromyalgia.

Thank you

Soft hugs to you all xx

I would love to with a recumbent bike. It's one of my personal goals.

yeah I do is lot better than walking cuz when you walk you have all that pressure from the cement or ground hitting your bones and bicycling you don't so it's much easier on your joints

I loved cycling too and took long rides, did triathlons and would go out riding and try to get lost just for fun. It really did feed my soul. Can't imagine that now! But I miss it dearly and have kept my last newest bike, and even got it tuned up last summer hoping for the best. I'm just worried about falling as my balance is awful, and my quads feel like I've been bench pressing all day normally. I have considered getting a bike that has an assist motor on it, in case I just can't go at it nonstop. Let me know how it goes for you, and if I get brave enough to go out on a paved trail, I'll definitely let you know. Best Wishes

I used to love cycling as well. I no longer can do it with fibromyalgia. I hurt so bad afterwards for days. I want my old life back!

Every time I go cycling my 2 outside toes go numb, really unconfortable, also hurts my hands and wrists because of the pressure of the handlebar 🤔
