Members rallied around the question of how to ease burning eyes, with many sharing that they experience this frequently due to conditions like dry eye, blepharitis, and blocked tear ducts. Several members recommended practical remedies including warm compresses or cotton wool pads, lubricating drops like Viscotears or Optrex, gel eye masks that can be heated in the microwave, and daily omega-3 fish oil supplements to improve tear quality. A recurring theme was the importance of consulting with an eye doctor or GP if symptoms persist, as proper diagnosis can reveal treatable causes like blocked tear ducts or sun damage, and many emphasized the relief that comes from a consistent daily eye care routine.

I get it alot too. I have blepharitis so my eyes are always dry. I use the optrex spray for dry eyes and warm cotton wool pads too when burning. I have times when my vision goes blurred too. I'm trying to get rid of an eye infection too, GP said my other eye looked sore, I said yeah cos I'm not sleeping much due to hip pain and GP ignored me. Think it's one illness per appointment these days! Grr.

Hi Helen, i have Rheumatiod Arthritis and my eyes are painful, dry, burning, stuck together every morning, my doctor has given me a Gel rather than the drops as my optition recomemded it. It has helped, speak to your GP. A humidifier at night has also helped.

I had this. I went to my eye doctor and she said that my tear ducts were blocked. So she put me on a regiment of putting hot compresses on my eyelids for at least 5 minutes twice a day and then to wipe my eyes with a lid scrub.

I'm in my second month. It has helped me. I still have another month to go though. I do have a dry eye drop that she has recommended which I use.

Also allergies messes me up on occasion and causes this.

I have had problems with my eyes, dry eye included. I have had good results from taking fish oil. I take 500 mg of Mega Red Omega 3 Krill oil daily. No "fish burps" with this at all. I know someone who takes 1,000 mg because their eye doc recommended it. Always consult with your primary doctor first. I initially started on it for "heart healthy" reasons.

I get this quite often. I use optrex anti itch drops and most of the time it eases it. If they’re not to hand I lay with warm cotton pads on my eyes (makes my kids think I’m having a pamper session. Pfft, if only). Occasionally I just have to persevere.
