Members shared their experiences with swallowing difficulties, describing the scary sensation of food feeling stuck in the throat or esophagus, with several identifying the issue as esophageal spasms that can cause painful cramping and temporary closure of the throat. Many members offered practical strategies including drinking plenty of liquids, chewing food thoroughly, taking small bites, eating slowly, avoiding talking while eating, and being mindful of which foods to avoid like raw carrots or granola. A recurring theme was curiosity about whether these swallowing issues are related to fibromyalgia, with one member noting recent research shows brain inflammation in fibromyalgia patients, which could affect bodily functions including swallowing.

Yes I've had that problem for years and years. Sometimes I get choked and it is very scary. Drink a lot of liquid , chew your food well, and most of all don't talk while are eating. Take your time when you eat. Take small bites and chew well. Hope this information helps you. Gentle hugs
