What Adaptive Devices Have Help You?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am VERY recently diagnosed and struggling quite a bit. One of my main concerns is that I work in IT and when I use my computer the pain from using the mouse is hard to manage. I also struggle with stairs and any type of walking.

What have you used to help accomplish your daily tasks so that your life isn't on hold?

I have been to the docs with chest pain and pain between my should Blades and shoulders. They advised this is intercostal chondrites (inflammation between the ribs) and common with arthritic related conditions. I had a course of naproxen which helped.

Heather, I am sorry to tell you, but you may need to find a new normal. That is how it is for me. I have never been able to achieve what I used to, even tho I was 12 when diagnosed. It took me awhile to accept & adapt to this. My Christian faith helped me personally. God sometime has better things in mind for us, even tho we don't think so at the time. I have learned to trust that He cares for me & knows my situation. I look back over my life, as a senior citizen, and see how I have had a more productive life than it may have seemed at the time.
Don't want to discourage you. For now, try to rearrange the level of your responsibilities. Allow rest times during the day. Are you trained to do another career?
Welcome to our group. I think you will find, as I, that they are very caring & non-judgmental. Write me, if you need to talk.

Maybe you could find fingerless driving gloves?

Hi. I JUST bought driving gloves from an auto parts store, as holding the steering wheel is often painful. Maybe those would help with the mouse, if u can find a pair that’s good for typing too. Good luck.
