If you have acid reflux/ GERD what do you take for it? What has worked the best? I am currently on zantac twice a day and take 40mg omeprazole once a day and I still have break through symptoms.
Oh and a wedge to put under your pillow when you sleep...I didnt realize how much it helped till I didnt use it for a few days!
@A MyFibroTeam Member... good read🤗
@A MyFibroTeam Member has the support of the best GI docs AND research. That is the singularly best advice any doctor will give you, imo. My GI specialist told me the only exception is if the heartburn kept me awake at night he condoned Tums and only to rinse my mouth out with a little bit of water afterwards but not to swallow the water because that would neutralize the Tums effect. I actually got out of that good habit because I wasn't hungry much during the day and I'd only become hungry at night and sometimes my medicines would be prescribed for night time just before sleep and I'd swallow with a little bit of food. It's a slippery slope for me.
As for your "doctor".....

The most helpful thing (after I got over the acute phase of GERD) was making sure my stomach was empty when I went to bed. I work until midnight most every night and my body thinks I should be eating since I'm up that late - so I would a snack and go to bed. Not a good thing.
Ginger tea. Just leave a peace of ginger in hot water for 5 minutes and then sip it slowly. My brother drinks black coffee but I think that would make me worse so just have to see what works for you
