After I go to sleep at night and I find that I'm dreaming about whatever. Then at some point within that dream I'll wake myself up trying to & find myself doing, reaching, grabbing etc. With my hands. Ex: if in my dreams I'm reaching for my husband cause I'm scared I won't be able to wake up , but I'll 1st in that dream find that I'm grabbing for something. So after I guess maybe a few minutes into it I wake myself up & find myself grabbing my husband's shirt or the blanket covering him tightly… read more

Members overwhelmingly reassured someone experiencing vivid dreams and physical movements during sleep that they weren't crazy, with many sharing their own similar experiences and pointing to medications as a likely culprit. Several members identified specific drugs known to cause intense dreaming or acting out during sleep, including gabapentin, Lyrica, Ambien, codeine, Cymbalta, and Chantix, while others emphasized the importance of using a CPAP machine for sleep apnea and consulting a doctor about potentially dangerous sleep behaviors like REM behavior disorder. A recurring theme was the validation and relief members felt in discovering they weren't alone in these unsettling experiences, alongside practical advice to review medications with a healthcare provider and continue leaning on prayer and faith for comfort during difficult times.

Yes I do this when take my ambien. I don't seem to be sleeping soundly. I'm reaching in the air. My little yorkie sits by me and I pet her all the time I wake up and I'm doing weird stuff. Also when in bed I have grabbed my husbands arm.

Drs still don't know the purpose of dreaming but do know it is crucial for life. I've worked in sleep and neurology for many years and I find our brains to be amazing. As a patient, I am always concerned with chemically altering our brain...

I have something similar only mine are more like awake nightmares & I can't move. One time Zolpidem made things MUCH worse. So it can be med related.
Then again I still have this now & again due to PTSD. 😨😨 Horrible
If I don't have this I have insomnia. I'd rather have insomnia. It's terrifying to be this way so I can empathize.
Nothing can be done for mine BUT it's important you consult your physician as we are all chemically different!

It does sound like a side effect of meds but it could happen just from lack of quality sleep. I wake up feeling like I'm in a dream sometimes and it is freaky. If your taking Ambien or any sleeping pills please be careful. They can cause you to drive and not remember. I read an article about someone waking up in jail and had no idea why she was there. Its very dangerous. I hope your sleep gets better and you stop having those dreams. Hugs

I would say its the medicine. Cause, you are not going to believe this, but when I take Tylenol at night, I have the craziest dreams. Anything else I take, I have "normal" dreams.
