Have you guys tried a naturopath doctor? They are expensive and I don’t want to waste my little savings on something that is no going to work.

I tried it all. I was so desperate for help that I went to a naturopath for over a year and did everything she suggested. I am a nurse and know there is no research to support it, but I was willing to try. I followed a new diet, took every vitamin, supplement, remedy, and mixture she suggested. I gave up gluten, meat, dairy, peanuts, junk food, etc. I even drank phytoplankton. And all I got out of it was an empty wallet. I was feeling worse than when I started and I was spending a fortune. I spent over $2000 in acupuncture and naturopath appointments alone in one year. And hundreds a month in supplements and remedies. And that was with insurance. I realized every single practitoner I saw always GUARANTEED a cure/improvement. This made me angry. I know that if I went to a Dr and they promised a cure, Id walk out. No one can guarantee how one will react to treatment.
I tried it, and it didnt help. For anyone it does help, thats great and Im so glad for you. I feel the key is finding a practitioner you can trust. But for me it just made me realize how easy it is for someone to make false promises and convince you to spend money on products because someone else thinks they work.
@A MyFibroTeam Member thank you!!! I feel like that, everyone wants your money and have false promises and when they have your money and you still live in pain they just blame your body. I guess i won’t waste my money on any more charlatans. On the other hand i wish there was a cure for this horrible thing.
I think it comes down to the fact that there are too many variables in FMS. For some it was a virus that started it, for some accidents or surgeries, others an emotional stress. Then so many have other diseases like diabetes or lupus, etc. So there's no way one pill can fix us all. My migraine buddies have the same issues. Some have tumors, some have TBI. Too many variables to fix with one pill.
There is some good out there. I am from the more medical side in my career when I worked but many benifit from a holistic approach being apart of their regimen. Especially on oncology. My cousin works in the nutracuiticals - holistic segment.
Research what you can. I take immunosuppression so much of it does not interact well often. But my immuno also makes pain relievers useless - and what could help I will not take as negative for my situation.
If I did not have that restriction I would try anything holistic if not contraindicated with another ailment if it could help any of my symptoms - any relief would be great.
But the data is scarce. Someday cannibus will be a good find but until strains are researched it is luck of the draw.
I think I support some areas of naturopathy, but we have to use extreme caution because they sound really smart, but they seem to be a bit manipulative. I had a good one who focused more on physical rather than medicinal. He gave massage with herbs and peppermint, did accupuncture, cranial manipulation, but never tried to sell me supplements or pills. His wife gave me the best massage of my life, but she usually just ran the office. Shame cause she was great.
