How Many People Work Full Time And What Do You Do?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hey everyone, I work 2 jobs. Between the two I work full time. I’m a waitress on Sundays and varying days Monday through Saturday I am a teller at a credit union. How many people work or even don’t work? If you work are you able to make it through a full time job? I can hardly make it through one day of work and by my second day in a row I can hardly make it. So obviously it just gets worse from there. If you don’t work, what do you do in order to pay bills and be independent? I need help. Im… read more

I really relate to your situation, and sympathise. On top of everything else the last thing you feel you can cope with is the financial stress. Stress triggers fibro and the cycle never ends. I now work just 4 days a week, 8 hours each day. Tuesday I feel like I forgot everything that I was working on from Friday, which leaves me confused. But I just work through it. Each day gets so much harder, by Friday I am on my knees. I go to bed just after tea each night, and I am lucky that I usually can sleep thru, but I still wake up tired. I take a 'rest' break sometimes at work or I use my 30 minute lunch break to rest up. I use a medical first aid room at work and set the alarm on my phone and nap for approx. 30 mins. This allows me to get through the rest of the day. I would recommend trying to take rest/nap break. and pace yourself as best you can. My weekends are spend mostly sleeping, and as much as I try and really want to do housework the body cannot do what I want it to. So give in, rest and no one died because of dust or dirty dishes! The answer is pacing, pacing and rest when needed. I have attended 2 Coping Skills courses for Fibromyalgia.I found it very useful, and listening to others in the group is an eye opener to how others manage. I learnt that every ones experience of Fibro is unique, and like you I am worried about not being able to work but have bills to pay. I have not found a solution to this but also like you am desperate for some financial help to be available.
I am now researching mental health options to perhaps help me adapt my mind set in how I see things. My future particulary, as at times it seems daunting to think ahead. I would recommend mindfulness and positive thinking in books or meditating but talking to people who understand does help lift the burden of fibro. I really hope you have some ideas from all the feedback you have. Good luck, and best wishes x

I work full time as a retail pricing coordinator. I change 4000 tags every week at a grocery store. I worked 19 years as a front end manager. I struggle everyday making it through, i take herbals, vitamins, prescription medications and when i get home i can't hardly do anything. My partner is awesome. I try to make extra meals on weekends and freeze and i have been making a lot of soups or stuff i can use my instant pot

I'm a qualified early childhood teacher and I work 3 days a week as a Play Specialist (gave up working in early childhood centres when i got diagnosed). My work days are 8am to 2:30pm Mon, Wed and Friday and 2 hours paper work at home on tuesday. 23 hrs total. I struggle doing this but thankfully i have an amazing workplace who are so supportive and who dont want to loose me so go out of their way to make my job work around my health. There is no way i could possibly manage without a supportive work environment.

In Australia you have to meet the required 40 points unfortunately not exactly sure what they are but have been refused once I don’t think there is a age requirement?

I taught for 6 years and have been an administrator for 2. It is hard grueling work. 10 hour plus days and we break up fights, give hugs, deal with parents and crazy 😜 teachers.
I honestly have no clue on how I do it daily. Having breaks help me to revouporate.
I’m 30 and can’t go on disability yet. I’m pressing through for the coin. And the sanity. I never have a dull moment ☺️
