Members overwhelmingly validated the challenge of functioning before 10 a.m., sharing that morning stiffness, pain, and fatigue make early hours difficult, with many describing how they naturally fall back asleep after waking with partners or struggle with droopy eyes throughout the day when forced to rise early. Several members explained their strategies for coping, including waking earlier to allow time for medication and movement to ease pain, scheduling all appointments in the afternoon when possible, and going to bed very early when work demands an early start. A recurring theme was the tension between personal rhythms and external expectations, with some members experiencing impatience from loved ones while others have found understanding by being upfront about their limitations and refusing morning commitments altogether.

I get up at 5.30 most days so that I can function in the mornings. I can't spend too long in bed as pain is too bad and don't sleep anyway. My ideal functioning time is middle of the day. Nothing is happening later on.

My husband has to get up at 4:45 for work. I get up with him and stumble around the kitchen, but inevitably will be asleep again by 6:30 and sleep until at least 8:30. This cold snap we’ve had lately isn’t helping.
Hubby used to be very understanding, but lately has become impatient about it all.
