Hi everyone,
I deal with the neck pain and agree with what everyone has said. I have tried them all and they work for awhile. I have found that neck exercises help a lot, and stretching exercises. Then put heat on it. That is the best for me. Wish you luck finding out what works for you.
I am in this boat too. I think my main knot is in my shoulder blade, the pain radiates in a triangle from the shoulder blade up my neck and across the top back of the same shoulder. I relax in a hot tub with Epsom salts and try to massage my shoulder where I can. I also use all kinds of pain relief rubs after the bath and my hot bag. This time around it has been most of the winter, if i dont stretch out the area several times a day it just gets worse. I would like to look into acupuncture but of course the cost is up there. Anyways, i hope you find some relief soon. Gentle hugs π
I have neck pain and in fact that was the first thing that sent me to a massage therapist. I couldn't even turn my head from side to side. The best thing that helps me is stretches of the head and neck. Then I put heat on it. I have had to keep it up most of the time or it will get painful.
To MereneP: Oh my gosh, yes! I have had trigger points in my neck since the beginning of my fibromyalgia. I try doing neck stretches, applying pressure to the knots with my fingers for about 30 seconds until I feel a release. My husband will rub my neck too. I would love to go get a massage, but that is expensive. Applying a heating pad or a neck wrap that you can heat up in a microwave helps. I think if I can find the "master" knot and get that to release it helps the others to release too.
