I watched a video about it and it's not a swear word lol. Doctors have found several gene mutations which can make meds react differently in people with those genes such as suicidal or mood swings on birth control, menopause and other times of hormonal changes in women and men and the like. If you have it you can get lifestyle and health and food advice. Definetly worth ruling out to improve heath perspective.

Members discussed MTHFR gene mutations and their potential health impacts, with several sharing powerful personal stories about losing anencephalic babies decades ago due to undiagnosed low folic acid levels before routine prenatal supplementation became standard. Many members expressed interest in getting tested, particularly those with fibromyalgia or chronic conditions, and one member shared that identifying their MTHFR marker allowed them to switch to better-absorbed B vitamins and folate. A recurring theme was advocating for comprehensive testing with doctors, managing the frustration of insurance cost barriers, and recognizing that while genetic factors may run in families, no one should carry guilt for passing on conditions they could not have known about or prevented.

MTHFR stands for methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase. It’s getting attention due to a genetic mutation that may lead to high levels of homocysteine in the blood and low levels of folate and other vitamins.

There’s been concern that certain health issues are associated with MTHFR mutations, so testing has become more mainstream over the years.

Very sorry to hear that, Aurio.
I think that may be the case in some families.
I don't see that in my family.
You should not have guilt about this.
It is not your fault.

I was aware that fibromyalgia is genetic in fact my granddaughter now has it. I feel terribly guilty about that. My father certainly had several of the symptoms I recall but that was long before a diagnosis had been established. I've never of this test here in the UK. If it proves positive can it help treatment ?
