The MTHFR gene mutation is linked to fibromyalgia, schizophrenia , miscarriages, depression, autism and anxiety. Knowing that you have it can help choose better medications and a course of treatment. Has anyone else's doctor ordered this DNA test in you? What were your results and how are you being treated? Thanks. I'm waiting for the results of my test.

What exactly is this gene ? And how does it relate to fibromyalgia ?
I have the MTHFR gene mutation and so does my husband. Fortunately my son didn't get it. We all have vitamin D deficiency gene mutation. We also have B12 gene mutation. My son needs to take vitamin C and D. He also tested positive for allergies to lemon (like me) oranges, raisins red grapes, vanilla and cotyonseed oil ( in chips). Also blue food coloring. It's good to know all this information to help him become less lethargic and combat his ADD and mood disorder. I got my IV push if glutathione today too which helps boost me energy.
@A MyFibroTeam Member. My doctor already removed "methylating" medication from my daily medications. If my son and niece are positive then they aren't producing enough serotonin or dopamine so the SSRI and SNRI they take would be ineffective because those hormones are recycled in the synapses. If you don't have them to begin with them they would need to take a different med to boast the production or supplement them. Good to know what you're dealing with.
Fibro is definitely genetic…Six family members that have it if you include my extended family. I have a lot of hope there will be a test soon!
@A MyFibroTeam Member my naturalpathic Doctor will read the report.
