Shopping Advice
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello everyone, tomorrow is shopping day and I'm really dreading it
I have to take my walking stick for extra support but feel so self conscious because I'm very young feel like people just stare and whisper.. However my main issue is how to cope because whenever we go shopping I'm completely exhausted afterwards! I have 2 small boys and having to do the shopping put everything away and take care of them, my partner does help as much as he can but he doesn't really know how to cook or anything… read more

I've used a cane off and on since I was 15. I've never had any issues with people staring or being rude. The only anyone even says anything is if I use it around someone who has never seen me with it before. Mostly because they fear I've injured myself in some normal way. I still feel weird using it sometimes but have to remind myself that no one notices or cares.

And next week do a supermarket delivery, leave the kids with their dad and go get your hair done. Xx

What i got as an advise was take a few more breaks. Set boundaries and live up to them. And make lists of what you have to get and everything extra is a bonus but get the essentials first. And have a bit of fun and let people talk they have nothing better to do than judge others.. Walk with pride, head held high and a smile on your face!

Sending you lots of love, confidence and energie!!

Cooking is where a crockpot comes in very handy. Or oven cooking comes in really handy as well. Put everything in a 13×9" pan and it'll be ready all at once. As far as shopping, I'd order it and have it delivered. Even though you pay a bit more, it helps keep your sanity and energy too.

Can your partner go shopping with you and look after your boys. Definitely pace yourself and have plenty of stops in between.
