Members strongly related to the original question about rib cage clicking and pain when stretching, with many identifying costochondritis (inflammation of the rib cartilage) as a likely cause, though most noted they also experience widespread joint popping and cracking throughout their bodies. Several members shared that they underwent chest x-rays, heart tests, endoscopies, and colonoscopies to rule out serious conditions, with doctors attributing the pain to fibromyalgia, costochondritis, myofascial pain syndrome, or even nerve-related issues like the MS hug. A recurring theme was the unpredictable, frustrating nature of the pain, which can be a constant dull ache or sudden sharp episodes that take your breath away, often worsening during flares or after physical activity.

I get rib and chest pain but no clicking. I was diagnosed with costochondritis about a year ago. The pain isn’t constant and I’ll go a while without having pain and then I’ll do something a little strenuous and it comes back with a vengeance.

@A MyFibroTeam Member i too have upper quadrant pain, they didnt find anything on my colonscopy/endoscopy but inflammation from h pylori. It seemed like after i got rid of h pylori it got worse so i really have no idea. I also have my gallbladder out, i am going to a neurologist tomorrow because my primary dr said it could be nerve related? Ive looked up “MS HUG” and that about described mine perfectly.

I've been having this pain as well and the doctor pain doctor just Shrugged. Also I'm going to a gastroenterologist and he touched all those spots and he's now going to do an endoscopy and a colonoscopy at the same time. I haven't picked the day in January yet but that's what I'm getting done I'll let you know if it shows something my pain in the ribs is on the left side upper quadrant. My gallbladder was removed a long time ago so I know it's not that. While I am answering that I take 50000 units of vitamin D. I have been taking it 4 A year-and-a-half. What is the test for costochondritis? I was more worried about polyps and cancer and now I got to think about this. This is just not fun anymore. You could call nuts trying to figure everything out.
