Last night I wrapped Christmas presents for around an hour, using scissors to cut the paper. By the end, the back of my hand was getting sore. Today my whole arm feels weak, up into my neck. Can anyone relate to this? I had MRI scans of my brain and spine last month which were normal. Any correspondence appreciated!

Members strongly related to experiencing disproportionate arm weakness and pain after minor activities like wrapping presents, lifting pots, or even typing, with many describing how repetitive movements can trigger soreness that radiates through the arm, shoulder, and neck for days or even weeks. Several members shared frustration over receiving normal MRI results despite debilitating symptoms, with one noting the vague diagnosis of normal wear and tear offering little clarity or comfort. A recurring theme was the unpredictable nature of fibromyalgia, where pain migrates throughout the body, and members emphasized the importance of taking frequent breaks during repetitive tasks and learning to recognize personal limits even when it feels frustrating or limiting.

@A MyFibroTeam Member yep. Sometimes my thumns just shake right after texting. If it’s a very long message, I have to take breaks.

This happens to me too! It always freaks me out because I am very active and consider myself a pretty physically strong person, but some days I'll find that just lifting a few things causes my shoulder and arms to be sore and even get shaky. It's nice to hear that other people experience it too. <3

Yes! Using my arms to support myself yesterday because my legs were acting up, resulted in a lot of shoulder and elbow pain and general arm soreness today. I had to take a lot of breaks from using my arms today. Even typing hurts a bit. I guess this will be normal. Will just have to figure out our limits I guess. Although cutting with scissors for an hour sounds kind of tough in general! haha

Yes. Some days I do barely anything like lift a pot of water to boil macaroni and my arm feels like a noodle. I have had 2 MRIs, and much more testing. I was told “normal wear and tear based off of age but nothing remotely concering or of importance. What exactly does normal wear and tear mean?! Who knows. Last week after leaving church I turned my neck to the left and immediately felt a shooty pain and I then had a crick which is still bothering me 7 days later. Pain radiating down my neck/shoulder and into my arm. I don’t understand FMS at all. It’s a horrific illness. Cant wait to start wrapping my presents. I’ll feel the same way, Im sure.
