At What Point In Your Fibro Did You Realize You Had To File For Disability?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I work remotely at a desk job, running a website. That means writing stories, interviewing executives, staying current on topics, working on live events and broadcast shows, traveling (which absolutely kills me) and more. Nobody knows about my health but they know I work from a doctor office each month. Every Monday I am wiped out — mentally, emotionally, physically. By week’s end, I collapse and usually spend Saturday doing much of nothing. It now takes me about a day to write a story. Half the… read more

Fibro fog is real..and it can be tested by a psychologist..a Cognitive test.I highly suggest you get that done..,it verifies the Memory is failing..can not follow through on tasks,,and many other tests are done,After the testing ,when you decide to leave work..you can submit your Cognitive testing to the Social Security Department..which will help you win your case. They usually deny you for the 200 physical symptoms of Fibro..but when it come to the problems of memory,,and follow through, and attention problems..that definitely interferes with work. With your testing by a Psychologist,.it can for sure win your disability.I quit work because my memory was non existent ,and follow through was exhausting,,and losing my purse.checkbook,,forgetting everything caused me way too much anxiety.

I have to write myself notes and post-its now for those kind of things. I’ve found the more stressed I am the more I forget. When I have a plan my fog lessens.

I would say get to your doctor ASAP and get things rolling. Not sure where you’re from but it seems to take forever no matter where you are, to get Disability. Unless you have short term and long term disability in your benefits then your doctor can put you off work right away! It’s not worth trying to stay working cause fibro gets worse as years go on so you may as well try to have a bit of enjoyment while you still can. If you continue to work, like you say it will take your whole weekend to recover to start again on Monday and they won’t care about you, believe me. I have been off since I had my surgeries fourteen years ago but not for lack of trying!
