They test you to see if you have got bad bacteria in your small intesting.
And food ilergies.
When I was looking up information it said that people who suffer with IBS qualify for the test.
I was just questioning if anyone with fybromayalgia and IBS as has this and what was the outcome.

My partner went for the test and he was clear.

Members connected over the topic of SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) testing for those with fibromyalgia and IBS, with many saying they had never heard of it or been offered the test by their doctors despite experiencing digestive symptoms. Several members shared their own testing experiences, describing the hydrogen breath test process that involves fasting, blowing into a machine, and drinking a sweet liquid to measure bacterial overgrowth, with some finding relief through dietary changes like eating fiber-rich foods and avoiding sweets. A recurring theme was frustration that doctors don't proactively offer these tests or information, coupled with relief at discovering through the community how deeply interconnected fibromyalgia, IBS, and digestive issues can be.

I did not realize that IBS and diverticulitis went along with fibromyalgia. I have had IBS for a very long time I thought it is a part of my on going gerd and acid reflux. All my other stomach problems. Never heard of this test. Sounds like it's a test anyone should have that has fibro and IBS problems. Thank you for the info.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, it doesn't sound odd at all, it's a huge revelation to discover so much is linked to fibro.
I'm glad I found this site too. It is a relief to be among friends who 'get it'
Have a lovely weekend, love and hugs πŸ’•

Hi Clare
It involves fasting for 12hours before the test. They get you to blow into a machine a few time during that process they give a special drink.
The breathing machine will show up a reading if you have bad bacteria in your lower intestine.
Look it up on the Internet it will give you more of a insite.
