Perryville, MD

I have been on Ropinirole for months, it was upped to 2mgs about a month or so ago but I still have these awful episodes where it feels like the insides of my knees are itchy and tense and the only thing that makes it stop is moving them. It happens during the day which really bugs me. Today my doctor switched me to gapapentin, I've been on that before for pain. I'm wondering what other people do or have done, and are they effective.

Members shared a wide range of treatments for restless leg syndrome, with many noting that gabapentin didn't work well for them but finding relief through combinations like pregabalin, tramadol, methocarbamol, or pramipexole, along with magnesium powder or topical magnesium lotion applied before bed. Several members discovered that addressing low iron through infusions or supplements significantly reduced or eliminated their symptoms, while others found that stress management, CBD oil, hot baths, and acupuncture helped calm episodes. A recurring theme was that RLS treatments are highly individual, with weather changes and stress often triggering flare-ups, and that finding the right medication combination requires patience and persistence.

I had restless leg syndrome and happened to get treatment for low iron, had iron injections and my restless legs went away. Was a pleasant surprise, not sure if it was a coincidence or not.
