Members responded with strong validation to the question about painful ribcage experiences with fibromyalgia, with many sharing relief at realizing they were not alone in this symptom. Several members described the pain as feeling bruised, sharp, burning, or like broken glass under the skin, often radiating from the sternum or sides to the back, with pressure from bras or clothing making it worse. A recurring theme was that Costochondritis-like inflammation around the ribs is linked to fibro, and members shared that moist heat, Naproxen, duloxetine, and Lyrica had offered some relief.

I have been complaining of a painful rib cage for years before I was diagnosed. It felt as if I had fallen down stairs and had bruised bones.

The pain in my ribs was what brought me to a breaking point. Its improved since I started taking duloxetine with lyrica. It was a sharp/burning/cutting pain. I would feel it in my ribs under my arms and radiating out my back. It was like broken glass under my skin. It hurt to breathe. It hurt to move. I would sit on the couch with pillows under my arms trying not to move. I wear bras that are 2 band sizes too big because I cant stand the pressure on my ribs.

Yes!

I read somewhere that Costochondritis-like pain is common with fibro. It's when the tissues around your ribs get inflamed.
