Members strongly affirmed the shared experience of intense anxiety before appointments and debilitating exhaustion afterward, with many describing it as a vicious cycle where stress triggers fibromyalgia flares and forces them to cancel plans. Several members offered coping strategies including bringing a supportive companion, using positive self-talk and breathing exercises, planning something comforting for afterward, and communicating openly with doctors about anxiety-related symptoms like elevated blood pressure. A recurring theme was the physical and emotional toll of appointments, from the energy required just to get there and process information, to the fear of not being taken seriously by medical professionals, all met with deep validation that these struggles are real and not crazy.

I do the same. I find any appt. exhausting.
I takes all my energy to get there and back home.
and then to remember all that was said.

honestly depends on the type of appointment. Ultrasounds and bloodwork scare the daylights out of me. But chats with my doctor tend to make me more hopeful, every appointment is one step closer to an answer. Thats my little slogan to keep me calm : ) But seriously if your anxiety over appointments are getting the better of you, bring someone who calms you down, have something to do afterwards (like new epsom salts or a favourite food), bring a little toy thingy (a fidget thing) or do some breathing exercises. You are not crazy for struggling with appointments. They are EXHAUSTING. As hard as it is keep as calm as you can, itll help.

Yes! Always! For me it’s the not knowing if my body can muscle up the energy. I give myself little self talks to get through it🤗💜🦋🌿

stress and anxiety can bring on flares. I do the same thing, and then I have to cancel plans because I have a flare up, because I am supposed to go out. its a stupid circle.
