My rheumatologist put me on methotrexate and I find it helps with some of the pain but not the fatigue only on a low dose atm 7.5 mg it does take 6 weeks or more to kick in was so worried about starting these tablets but so far so good on so many meds for pain and different things but definitely noticed a difference in my pain hope this helps

After reading some of the answers then I maybe have to rethink I was put on methotrexate for RA 7x7.5 mg once a week along with 2 folic acid and for a couple of days after I am completely worn out but just put this down to fibromyalgia as didn’t think folic acid could cause this to worsen I’m new to fibromyalgia sorry if my last answer was misleading to you but they do help slightly with the pain for my RA

1 mg a day. Had the same problem taking B12 supplement. I thought it might be related to gastric bypass and my body not able to absorb vitamins properly. Its so hard to determine what is fibro and if it's something else!

How much Folic Acid were you prescribed? I started to think it was crazy that Folic Acid would make you feel so fatigued and then I remembered my reaction to Tumeric LOL. This Fibro is the 'crazy'. I need to try it one more time to be sure but I don't know when I'm going to be brave enough to risk the high pain, etc. again.

Mine is prescribed for arthritis. This is my second week. I take 6 tablets (7 mg) one day a week. The other days I'm supposed to take folic acid. I tried taking folic acid before but it made me feel very fatigued and just worn out. Same this time so I stopped taking it

I have tried it and so has my daughter with two very different reactions. But neither was for fibro. I've not had any doctor offer it for the fibro. My daughter took it because she has lupus: and the side affects she experienced were worse then that of the issues with the lupus. As for myself; my doctor tried it for rheumatoid arthritis and it did not work for me and I lost hair, which can be a side affect. Maybe do some research and also get a second opinion on if that is a proper medication for fibro. good luck
