I went to my pain management doctor last week and she changed my muscle relaxer to Baclofen. I was having one of these headaches at the time and the Baclofen plus Motrin cleared it up and I haven't had one since! Knock on wood.

I would wake up most mornings with a pain in my neck that traveled to my ear and head. The pain was annoying and no amount of rubbing or any topical pain reliever would work. I found that I clenched my teeth when I slept and it put tension on my muscles on the right side of my neck and head. I know that I suffered from TMJ in the past and I also researched and found that TMJ could cause this problem, so I was fitted for a bite guard. I also started to use a neck roll pillow when I slept in order to keep my neck from being in odd positions when I slept. Both have helped tremendously.

Yes. I think it is from the TMJ and I carry my stress in my shoulders. Try destressing where you can.

I get these too! For me I try to relieve them by having my husband rub my neck, using peppermint oil (I’m terrible and don’t use a carrier oil bc it doesn’t bother me without one and I like the full strength, but I don’t recommend that since the manufacturer recommends a carrier oil) and using a heat pack to relax the muscles or a cold pack to reduce inflammation. Sometimes rotating both.
