Does Anyone Have Any Sleep Aids That Work And Do Not Affect Your Immune System?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hey everyone!

I was "diagnosed" with Fibromyalgia earlier this year. Pretty much my new doctor says I have it but he can't give me a real diagnosis without ruling other things out, but he doesn't feel like we need to do that. It seems super strange to me. Anyway, he approved me to have the FM/a test and I am excited about that, but I have to stop taking all my vitamins that affect my immune system and CBD oil for 30 days first. I am 3 days in and I haven't slept more than an hour or eaten more… read more

I have taken trazadone which is an antidepressant I do not believe imacts immune system. Helps fall asleep but not so much stay asleep for me. Up to 600 mg is safe. I took much less.

Yes i would call the people who do that test and ask if you can take certain meds/supplements for sleep. Benedryl is useful. As far as prescription drugs- flexeril, amitriptyline, gabapentin

I use melatonin. I also recently started using ZMA, a combination of zinc, magnesium, and B-6 at the recommendation of a nutritionist. It doesn’t put me to sleep, but it helps my brain relax and feel calm, so if racing thoughts or too much brain energy is one of the reasons you can’t sleep it could be worth a try.

my doc was big on the less-is-more school of melatonin...not more than 1.5 mg per night. The trazadone is only used as an antidepressant at more than 600 mg, and for very few as the drowsy effect makes it almost useless as such. I took 100 or 200 when my father was severely ill in the ICU and none of us could tell day from night. He was there for 17 weeks. I undeerstand you are in extreme pain have you tried water exercise to tire your body and calm your mind?
