I am seeing an Eyelid specialist next month. Apparently from 50 years of dryness with constant artificial tears, the eyelids are uneven inside and rub against the cornea. Can only tell more after 17 Jan when I see specialist.
My daughter got collagen plug for dry eye at the doctor's office, took a few seconds, no pain, good relief (should last for a few months, she was told). With health insurance did not cost anything extra besides the copay.
I use over the counter drops moisture type. But my eye sockets hurt all the time. I use migrain meds for that. Hope that helps.
I have used every drop known to humankind. Finally a new eye Dr. put me on am antibiotic which had shown to reduce the inflammation that causes dry eye. It's called doxycycline 50mg twice a day. Only problem fir me is I can't afford the $47 per month so I only do one a day. It helps, but not as much as twice a day.
I also carry a prescription drop called Olopatadine for when my eyes are itchy & sore. Another one is called Tears Naturals (over the counter) for when my eyes are just dry..
