I have recently been diagnosed with severly torn tendons in my shoulder and bicep
And am considering trying PRP ( Platelet Rich Plasma ) Treatment as an alternative to surgery
During my research on this I have also read some articles on how it may be useful for fibromyalgia
Does anyone know anything about this treatment ?
And has anyone ever tried it
I am interested to know if it helped in anyway
Thanks from Karen π

I had 2 PRPs done for a torn elbow tendon. There are two important things to mention. First I was having it done under workers comp so my case manager fought to have the insurance pay for it. It did. Second my injury was 2 years old which is why my case manager thinks it didn't work. He feeling was it probably only worked if the injury was 6 months or less.
The process is they extract 55 cc of blood. Spin it down to 3-4 cc of plasma and inject it into the damaged area. I won't say it wasn't uncomfortable because they had to move the needle around without taking it totally out. Hope this helped.
Ginger and ginseng are very good for tendons. 1 tsp of each in 1 cup of water. Every day at leaat 3 to 5 cups a day you can drink use raw sugar the brown one unrefined. This herbal remedy has helped me and my cousin aa well
I have never had any problems like this before but I want you to know I am thinking of you and praying you find the right treatment and you get relief for a full recovery. Many prayers for you.πππ
Hello....I wanted to try this treatment too but my insurance would not pay for any of it. In
PRP your blood is drawn and then put in a (centrifuge) this separates the components in your blood. Only the PRP is used for the injection.
If you decide to go this route please let me know how you do.......another treatment that was mentioned by my doctor was Prolotherapy.......I posted a question about it on this site.....but after reading several posts saying it was very painful I decided not to even try it...but my insurance would not pay for it either.....I'm hoping some insurance companies will pay some of the cost to help others who want to try these treatments.....
Good Luck to you! Linda
Thanks Jerilyn Will have to keep you posted to quote my Dr "I'm complicated " due to the fibro Will talk to a surgeon first then have to think carefully about my options . Gentle hugs from Karen π
