I’ve been “managing” this with as much humility, dignity and grace as possible. Some days are worse than others but in the last 9 months, I’ve maintained my career, still take care of my kids and myself to the best of my abilities. But. I birthed one hell of a smart seven year old and she’s starting to ask heartbreaking questions like why I work from home more now and do I still have a job and do the doctors say I’m going to be ok or am I going to die. I just can’t handle anymore heartbreak. It… read more

I became very ill when our now 10 year old granddaughter was born. She has never know what I believe is the real me it makes me sad but what can I do about it. I believe in honesty and answer her questions to age appropriateness. I bring her into my bed to read do homework, brush her hair it’s special time and still kind of relaxing for me.

I have a 6, 4, and almost 2 year old. My oldest is ADHD. He's always going and hard to keep up with while dealing with fibro. My 4 year old is calmer but loves to ask questions (she's my little chatterbox). My 2 year old is speach delayed and possibly Autistic (we haven't persued testing but it has been mentioned by atleast one psycologist as a possibility).
They love to run, scream, jump on me, ask me to do a million snack trips/drink refills, and love to pile on me on the couch to cuddle. It breaks my heart everytime they ask to go outside and I feel horrible or am having a very hard day dealing with hot/cold. I haven't completely explained it to them. My oldest deals with anxiety and anytime something bad gets brought up he instantly assumes someone's dying. My middle listens when I say mommy can't do that but doesn't understand why. My youngest shows no regard, but he doesn't really communicate as it is.
It's not easy. Difficult is an understatement. Everyday I do everything I can for them and some days I push my limit. My emotions go all over the place some days and I have to apologise to my kids for my outbursts when they all gather up and talk at once and over load me.
You just do what you can and what you have to. Sometimes my house becomes a complete wreck but my kids are happy so I just let it go to get it another day that I feel better. Kids, especially young kids, are hard but your love is what matters most. Your attention and your just being there. Answer questions at their level and rember their on this journey with you.
Well, I didn’t get fibro TIL my kids were around sixteen and eighteen and I can honestly say, I don’t know how you mothers do it with young children but you are warriors! It’s hard for my kids to see me like this as they like the old, energetic me much better and they find it so hard to accept! My son is like my husband and makes fun of me but when it comes right down to it, he cares! My daughter is amazing but still slips sometimes and really hurts my feelings! I understand where you get the energy cause I do look after my grandsons many times and my husband asks how I have the energy when it comes to them? I tell him we push ourselves through what has to be done but to have to do it on a daily basis like you guys with young ones do, I don’t think I could! It sounds like you all have your life’s sort of under control so I say hats off to you! You all amaze me!!!!
I have a 7 year old and an almost 2 year old. My husband works a lot so it’s mostly me and the boys. It’s hard trying to figure out what to share and what to wait on. My oldest is very emotional and gets super worried when something is wrong or someone gets hurt, while my youngest is too young to understand. So for now I just try and explain the best way I can for them to understand what’s happening in that moment. Both kids like to scream or talk super loud and the youngest loves to jump on and off of everything. So I’ve had to explain that the really loud noises give me a headache and that sometimes Mom needs them to play not so loudly while in the house. That mommy’s muscles/back hurt which makes it harder to stand or sit. So Mom has to take breaks to rest and we can’t be rough when playing. Things like that. They have noticed that I can’t do everything I used to. But I try to make up for it with things I can do that they love. My oldest is very helpful and loves all the running around and playing rough with his brother. It’s heartbreaking to me to not be as involved as I would like to be. So I’m grateful that while I can’t always do it, he still has someone to share it with. I love that on my bad days they both don’t mind spending time with me by cuddling up on the couch and watching a movie. It’s easy to feel gulity. In the end I think we just have to remind ourselves that we are doing the best we can in our situation, and while we’d love to do more. They appreciate the effort we give.
