What Side Effects Has Anyone Had On Venlafaxine Or Nortriptyline
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had terrible side effects on Cymbalta and now the doctor wants to prescribe either Nortriptyline or Venlafaxine. My body doesn't adjust very well to medications and I usually have terrible side effects and I am so flippin scared that it will be the same issues with either of the new medications (insert rant of PTSD due to medications). Sorry if I don't make to much sense my brain fog is terrible this morning.

Thank you to anyone who can give me some medicine advice.

Have you tried Gabapentin? I take 300 mg at night to calm my nerves. That along with acupuncture and exercise help me.

Nortriptyline reduced my pain a significant noticeable amount. It worked for me better then Amitriptyline. It is a newer more bioavailible advanced and updated version of Amitriptyline I found out when doing research and so I asked for it. My body easily adjusted to it with no need to titrate off the Amitriptyline as I had only been on it a few months. I have adjusted to it and don't have any real side affects. I take several meds and so always keep a water bottle with me as I do get a dry mouth occasionally but that's about it. I am picky and am fine with it.

I am very sensitive to medication but it usually takes 3 -6 weeks for it to affect me. I have had good luck with Venlafexine not so much with Nortriptyline.

I have tried all the “fibromyalgia” meds. Some of them even seemed to work forms for about 6-12 weeks and then they turn on me.
