Members overwhelmingly confirmed experiencing tingling sensations in the shins and feet along with itching hands as common fibromyalgia symptoms, with many describing these as forms of paresthesia (abnormal skin sensations) or possible peripheral neuropathy that can include burning, crawling sensations, numbness, and itching so severe it leads to scratching until bleeding. Several members shared practical relief strategies, including using Arnica or CBD cream on affected areas, taking magnesium supplements for muscle and nerve relaxation, using Benadryl or Hyland's restless leg pills at bedtime, and gently applying coconut oil to itchy scalp areas, while emphasizing the importance of ruling out other conditions like neuropathy or diabetes with a doctor. A recurring theme was the frustration of navigating unsupportive healthcare providers and the relief of discovering through this community that these distressing symptoms are not imagined but widely shared experiences of living with fibromyalgia.

It's common to get sensations like this with fibromyalgia, I've had them my whole life.

However, it's also not unusual for us to get one symptom that we put down to fibromyalgia when it could be something else, so always have it checked if you are worried. I can only share my lived experience

A common symptom of this condition is the following.

Abnormal skin sensations

Such as

Itching
Tingling
Feeling of crawling or feeling of insects on the skin when nothing is on the skin
Burning feeling
Feelings of numbness

These have a name Paresthesia, which in simple terms just means abnormal sensations of the skin.

However, just to make things complicated it's not unusual to see symptoms of Peripheral neuropathy, which also causes a sensation of tingling in the skin.

I started taking magnesium a few weeks ago thanks to someone’s post and it has made a huge difference to my muscle pain but I still have numbness and itching. I bought the hylands pills for the restless legs and it definitely helps as well. Thanks to all of you sharing your experiences I feel better than I have in decades. 🤗🤗🙏🏻🙏🏻🌹🌺
