I have episodes where I will sometimes itch all over. Other times I will get random itches when I am trying to fall asleep. I just wonder if anyone else has had this happen to them?

Members connected deeply over the frustrating and often misunderstood symptom of fibromyalgia-related itching, sharing experiences that ranged from random itches when trying to sleep to intense, localized episodes lasting weeks or months, and some describing sensations of insects crawling on their skin or developing hives. Several members found relief through practical strategies including over-the-counter antihistamines, hydrocortisone cream, oatmeal baths, anti-itch medications, hot showers, and antiseptic creams to prevent infection from scratching. A recurring theme was validation that this symptom is real and linked to fibromyalgia's nerve sensitivity, with members reassuring each other that they are not imagining it and encouraging experimentation with different remedies to find what works best for their individual experiences.

Sometimes with the itch I feel like things are crawling on me and I'll hit my legs or arms and people look at me like I'm crazy

Yes. Usually I get them in specific places. Had one on my head that drove me nearly crazy for months, then it went away. I did find one research article that said itching can be one of the symptoms of Fibro/Central Pain Syndrome. I find that sometimes the over-the-counter anti-itch meds can help. For whole body? Oatmeal bath? Or something that soothes the skin.
