I started out taking 10 MG then the doctor upped my dose to 20. I have been having heart palpitations and/ or reflux. It is scaring me! The sad thing is they are helping with the pain so much but having these effects is not good. I talked to the doctor and he doesn't seem too worried but I am terrified. My husband just tells me to stop taking them and move around more and I will be fine. Has anyone had these side effects? I really don't like them.

Hello there,
I ended up in hospital for 5 days when on amytriptelen.....thought i was having a major heart attack, didn’t relate it to the meds at the time.....had lots of tests and my heart was fine, was sent home, still with symptoms.....I eventually came off them and the heart probs stopped....
Yes, i agree, fantastic pain relief but cause other probs so not on them any more....
Good luck...x

I was on 100mg of amitriptyline for quite a while. It helped me. I felt almost normal but I had to stop taking it the side effects were horrendous. I'm on 10mg now and it doesn't help much.

Thanks. I was able to call earlier. I am headed to Cleveland Clinic in 2 weeks. Hoping for some more answers to lots of things. It has ruined this trip to Las Vegas, that’s for sure.

So sorry you are having these side effects because I take Amitriptyline and it has been a life saver for me with sleeping and leg pain at night!! Hopefully you can figure something out that will allow you to continue taking it so you still get some relief from pain!!
