After 20 or so years of constantly dealing with bad to horrific fatigue, I suddenly thought to try an ADHD drug. I am a clinical psychologist, and the use of ADHD drugs are very prevalent in my field. Doctors happily prescribe these drugs to very young children. And yet no-one seems to have thought of using them to help people with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia. I started vyvance about 4 years ago and I no longer have to plan my entire existence around my energy levels. I am NEVER… read more

Hi. I actually take vyvance, not adderall, because I have found it less disruptive to sleep and mood. I have to admit, that I have been one of the "lucky" fibromyalgia people who does not struggle with sleep so much. So the stimulants have not made sleep a problem for me. Try the lowest dose possible ... at times I even take it every second or third day. Main point is NO, it has not changed my ability to sleep.
and yes, I am on Lexapro and Wellbutrin, for YEARS ... If I try stopping everything gets worse.
I use marijuana for the pain. I have also used this for a long time and find it the only thing that actually helps without horrible side effects. More recently I have been using marijuana chocolate edibles. A friend bought me a huge box of "punch bars"which lasted for 5 months. For those 5 months I felt NORMAL (and a little high). I was starting to wonder if I had ever really had so much pain. I recently ran out of the chocolate, and I am back to taking breaks from the aches and pains, with just weed. Turns out, once again, the pain is REAL.
I feel ready to take to the streets to fight for my right to my chocolates!!!! Only available in CA ....
I hope this helps
Yes, you are correct. These pills are methamphetamines. And they can be addictive. And yes, I think we should be careful to prescribe them to young kids. But as someone who has lived for 20 years, groaning from exhaustion, and limiting my life because I simply don't have enough energy, I will take anything that gives me my life back! Doctors are eager to give us crap like Lyrica and Gabapentin, which are equally addictive and DO NOT HELP. Vyvance has allowed me to have a normal life again. Every time I schedule something, I do not need to worry about whether or not I will be up for it. God knows we as fibromyalgia people try so much shit. Certainly I prefer vyvance to he doctors who suggest super expensive intravenous vitamins or god knows what else, which do not help and make you worse and even more depressed. Living with fibro is not normal ... I personally will use anything that works!
@A MyFibroTeam Member definitely try the CBD oil. I was like you but I wondered for a long time if it would work and thought it would be the answer to my problems! I finally got the nerve up to go through the process of getting referred and the visit to a clinic in a city close by. Although it didn’t work for me, and yes I tried three different strains and different dosages, I was so glad I tried it because it put my mind at ease and I could stop wondering and thinking if this was going to be my answer! It works for so many people so I’ll cross my fingers that it works for you!!!
Try CBD oils. Or medical marijuana. I have found if i have a steady dose in me, I can feel fine really normal (Like when you begin to wonder if they were right and it IS all in your head!) I haven't done it with CBD, but my guess is, it should work
Keep us posted on how it goes. I live on Vyvance and marajuana. Both actually helpful, and both provoke moral judgement. I am so sick of being judged for what gets me through the day.
