I was always the lightest sleeper. I had to have everything off, dark, np snoring nearby, a pin could drop and I'd wake up. Now I black out with the TV blaring . It's scary. If I can describe it, it's like anesthesia. I wake up exhausted, it only lasts a few hours or some days I'm in and out, just unable to keep my eyes open. Will a sleep test help me? What's it like?
Thank you

Members shared their experiences with sleep apnea developing alongside fibromyalgia, with many describing a dramatic shift from being light sleepers to experiencing exhaustion-induced blackouts and severely disrupted rest. Several members found relief through sleep studies and CPAP machines, with one member reporting their breathing stoppages dropped from over 50 times per hour to just 2-5 with treatment, transforming what felt like constant naps into genuinely restorative sleep. A recurring theme was the isolating nature of invisible chronic illness, with members validating the original poster's struggle to be taken seriously by family and encouraging them to pursue testing with a neurologist when their primary care doctor proved unhelpful.

Yes i developed really severe sleep apnea, i stop breathing between 54 and 62 times an hour, now i have the cpap machine its between 2 and 5. I didnt even know, it was my wife that noticed i stopped breathing repeatedly. I had a sleep study then got my cpap machine. It does help i do feel refreshed after a full sleep, before the cpap 8 hours sleep felt like a nap.

I thought that was Central sleep apnea? I'll look up clinical, I've not heard of it. Is this dangerous? I live alone. I've asked to sleep over with family and have them tell me what's going on however no one listens to me or my symptoms any longer. My struggle is too much for them to bear, it's caused an incredible rift in my relationship with parents and angry siblings. Fibro, Sjögren’s, RA, PNEUROPATHY and apnea. Yet they think it's all in my head
