Example I keep either catching the toe of my slippers on the cement stairs and falling, trip on the raised transition stops between the current "rooms" in the condo and falling into other things.
Yes, all the time. Last August I was coming down the stairs and my legs just gave out, broke both ankles and bruised myself up pretty badly.
You just have to be careful; on the stairs, I take it one step at a time sideways so that I can push myself back towards the stairs when my legs give out, rather than falling down them all the time like I used to. Good thing I had the extra weight, I just bounced most of the time, LOL.
I walk with a cane now all the time, it has saved me many times. I also have a walker for days when being upright just isn't in the cards.
Each of us finds our own way to cope, just make sure you take care of you the best way you know how, and to hell with what others think or say.
And don't forget to laugh about it, after all, I know that I have looked ridiculous at times with my rear end in the air and my arms stuck underneath me. Trying to get up when the arms aren't working properly must look like a turtle trying to turn over when upended. LOL.
Take care and gentle hugs.
I used to fall all the time but I have gotten a little better. I may stumble but brace myself before falling. It could be your medicine making you lightheaded and causing you to lose your balance.
@ KittyMaMa42,
I am very self conscious about the possibility of this happening. In the first part of this year, I started going to Physical Therapy. On the third appointment, the person *over-stretched ,y left leg. I could hardly get out of bed and walk several yards to the bathroom for a month. Stayed downstairs.
One day when out, I stepped down from walkway to pavement, where my husband's car was. My bad leg gave way on me! I just went down. He wanted to know "what happened?" It was apparent. I fell down. No. I didn't have a "drop seizure." I got right back up.
Even now, I use my right leg to go up most of the steps. Though I am starting to sometimes use the left one a little.
That *girl messed my left leg up! I had told her she pushed my leg too tight *towards my body. I was on my stomach. "Tell me when it begins to hurt." *I DID! She continued.
When finishing, she commented: "I have a Lot of work to do to get you back in shape!"
All other appointments were cancelled.
@A MyFibroTeam Member, If you had that many concussions, then it's possible to get symptoms at a future point after being injured. I don't know enough about it, but you should ask your GP to give you a referral to a specialist. For sure, physical traumas such as a truck accident can trigger the onset of fibromyalgia.
God bless you.
Same here! banging into doorways,
dizzy at times. Sometimes I have to laugh at myself.
