I’m curious how many here have linked their FM to hormonal imbalance or menopause? I happen to be in surgical menopause. Firmly believe mine was brought on by this. I noticed a trend in the women in another forum for surgical menopause. Not long after surgery they end up diagnosed with Fibro and IC, etc. I actually have always had “female trouble” though, and have experienced lots of different symptoms over the years. What’s the likelihood of it all being hormones? Any one know of any studies or… read more

I have only ever used premarin vaginal cream that is inserted 2 times per week. I was never put on any pills, but ended up in the ER one day due to bladder spasms. That's when I was put on the premarin. Thankfully, I had a post menopausal woman doctor who had been through the same thing. I have issues with my pulse going extremely high or really low yet have normal blood pressure readings. I have a heart monitor implanted right now and they are trying to figure out the cause. My theory is a thyroid issue. Will see. I also have a disorder called small vessel disease of the heart. Please don't just assume your issues are from menopause. There are other things that can cause chest pain, etc. Mine is the small vessel disease (by the way this is common with women who have had surgical menopause). I have to take Isosorb for the rest of my life to get the blood vessels around the outside of my heart to expand. Please get this checked out further.

I also believe hormones play a role. I had a complete hysterectomy in 1996 and in 2002 was diagnosed with fibro. I haven't really seen much for data supporting this theory and I don't think there is much going on in clinical reviews or trials.

Was dianosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome when i was 8 years old. Had a complete hysterectomy in my early 20s and was diagnosed 18 point fibro positive 10 days after my 39th birthday.

I had an early menopause at 42. I also have hashimoto thyroiditis . My fibro got worse after it. I am not sure it´s because of menopause or just aging.
I am doing hormone replacement tough. It helps me with energy levels and the brain fog, but has not eliminated it completely.

Thank you. Thats confirmation. Ive been feeling like I may need to see a cardiologist to rule out any issues with my heart. My doctor suggested a stress test also. Im only 35 but have been in surgical menopause since July of 16. Ive been under an enormous amount of stress as well, and also having to take potassium supplements. I think its time to see someone!
