I have no problem getting off to sleep at night, mostly because of my fatigue, but after two hours, I am awake with unbearable hip and bottom pain. It's both sides when I'm lying down. I don't have this particular pain during the day. I wondered if anyone else experiences the same thing and if anyone has tips to STAY asleep at night??

Members shared widespread empathy for the struggle of waking up with unbearable hip and back pain after only a couple hours of sleep, with many describing similar patterns of pain that worsens when lying down but improves during the day. Several members found relief through practical solutions like sleeping in a recliner to reduce pressure on the hips, using memory foam mattress toppers or adjustable beds with inclined positioning, and applying magnesium oil or heat to painful areas before bed. A recurring theme was the importance of experimenting with sleep positions, combining medications or supplements like THC oil, CBD, muscle relaxers, and time-release melatonin, and giving yourself grace when traditional bed sleeping just doesn't work.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, have you tried a thick (at least 3 inches) memory foam mattress topper? Before I got an actual memory foam mattress, the only thing that helped was the topper. With fibromyalgia, most mattresses are just too hard to lay on. It's ouch, ouch, ouch all night long. I began to feel like the "princess and the pea" - the fairy tale.

I rub magnesium oil into legs and feet and hips and it does help I'm similar and can some nights wake as my hips dislocate regularly... The magnesium oil assists with pain and sleep and then apply heat and meditate they all really help me... I just use a guided meditation on my phone and it helps to relax me enough to go back to sleep.

I got a Tempurpedic adjustable bed and sleep with my head and feet inclined. This helps a lot with hip & back pain.

This is a hard one, and I have this problem several times a week. I like Natrols melatonin time released.5mg. The important thing for me is that it's time released. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. I wish you the best.
