I'm asking because I suffer from bi-polar and in the past few weeks I've had two different professionals ask me if I have PTSD... I have not been diagnosed with PTSD.. I've always assumed PTSD was for people that came back from the war or who have been physically/sexually abused.. I have not had many traumatic issues occur in my life besides being a preemie ( I was born in 1984 and weighed 1 pound, was born at 26 weeks)..I had a horrible labor/delivery after having my son back in 2005, I also⦠read more
complex PTSD is a little different, google it.. it may make more sense. Also google a book called Childhood Disrupted.. as it may also answer your questions.. doesn't have to be a one off event or even seem traumatic.. it just has to be traumatic to the person
Yes this book is really worthwhile because if you start healing from past trauma, your stress levels reduce and your pain will too.. doesn't mean complete healing, but hey, gotta be better to work with one of the sources at least.
I have complex PTSD. I go to an online meeting on Wednesday nights for trauma survivors and the facilitator has a book she really likes. I'll try to get the name. I actually go to a lot of online support group meetings as I am in recovery from all sorts of addictions. PLUS I got fibromyalgia and feel like shit right now. I took a long walk today and regret it. I get such lower back pain from walking. And thanks for the warning about epidurals. I was supposed to get 3, but the hospital requires the drivers to be present and I couldn't find anyone willing. Plus, people told me it was really painful, even though the neurosurgeon said it wasn't. If it is not painful, they wouldn't require me to get fentanyl. No thanks for a few weeks relief.
You could have PTSD. Trauma can come in many forms. Similar to you I've always assumed it only happened to people who had gone to war or suffered serious traumatic situations, but was recently diagnosed myself and it was due to a bad coworker in an office environment. Certainly not the same level of PTSD that many others have, but PTSD none the less.
Yes! Ptsd due to abuse when i was a child.
