Has she been seen by a rheumatologist? I was lucky when i changed my pcp and she went ahead and diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. My previous pcp, neurologist and neurosurgeon tell me the pain i was experiencing was all in my head. I know how frustrating it can be. You may be able to print out a list of the symptoms from a medical website and highlight the ones she suffers from to try and show that she does indeed suffer from fibro.

Brian, most of us have been through this frustration. If you go to WebMD (you don't need to be a physician to sign up), there is a whole section called fibromyalgia home, with tons of information, including this:

What to Look For Primary Care Doctor Rheumatologist Pain Medicine Specialist How to Find a Fibro Doctor

First, ask your regular doctor for a referral, or call your health insurance company and ask for a list of rheumatologists or pain management clinics in your network. You can also ask friends for recommendations, if you know someone with a similar condition.

You could reach out to fibro support groups such as the National Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Association or the National Fibromyalgia Association to get the names of specialists in your area.

In addition, you might consider a pain clinic, a Naturopathic doctor, or a Nurse Practitioner.
Hope this helps!

It will take 1-2 years before the actually give it a label. It is in your head and your entire body. Fibro takes every part of you from head to toe. The medications are what makes things worse, one medication you can develop 5-10 new medical issues. Research side effects and learn everything about what you are feeling. Ask for a copy of your blood work so you can see for yourself what is going on. If you have any deficiencies this can also make matters worse on all levels. ITS NEVER ALL IN YOUR HEAD. Don't let the doctors get to you, remember they are not your friend and all you will ever get from them is new prescriptions and more referrals. Even if they stamp her with the label of fibro, its not for sure because they have no clue. Test after test, doctor after doctor and you end up worse feeling hopeless. View my profile here and see what meds can do. I left doctors alone and took the naturopathic route, reversing everything. Start putting together your own puzzle and you will see. Best of luck, follow your thoughts and ask questions all the time.

The best thing I ever did was to go to a Pain Management Center. All they deal with is managing pain. Don't listen to these uneducated doctors who try to keep you coming and going and don't know what they are talking about.

Look for the nearest Pain Management Center in your area. It is worth it, believe me.
