Ive been on gabapentin for 2 days and i feel heavy, and tired and “numb”. Not numb like i cant feel my body parts but numb like theres nothing gojng on. My pain is gone. But I feel like i cant feel anythin else either. I slept for 18 hours and still feel heavy. Should i give it more time? Or quit beforr my bod gets use to it? I dont like the way it makes me feel right now. What are your experiences? I think id rather be in pain than feel nothing at all.

Members shared mixed experiences with gabapentin for fibromyalgia pain, with many describing initial drowsiness, heavy limbs, and sleeping for extended periods that gradually improved over several weeks as their bodies adjusted to the medication. Several members emphasized that while gabapentin effectively reduces pain, finding the right dosage is crucial, with some taking as little as 300mg at night and others requiring 600mg or more throughout the day, and many noted the importance of giving the medication at least a few weeks before deciding whether to continue. A recurring theme was the shared understanding that fibromyalgia itself causes fatigue and heaviness, making it difficult to distinguish medication side effects from the condition, but most members encouraged perseverance through the adjustment period while remaining open to trying different medications or dosages if gabapentin ultimately does not work.

Gabapentin has the same effect on me ! Certainly takes the edge of my pain but knocks me for six sleep for two hours after each dose ! I just think that I’m sleep deprived because of pain and the gabapentin helps me catch up on lost sleep! But Fibro itself makes you fell heavy and tired and just want to lie down !

I take 300mg at night and I won't let them up it because I'm afraid of that.

I still wonder the dosages on some of these. I take 600 mg at night and they don’t do that much for me. So I wonder if I should ask the doctor to increase the dosage. I also take cymbalta and pain medication and still have pain. What dosage of cymbalta do you take? I always start out at a low dosage, maybe that is my problem. I have been on these medications for well over a year. I am so glad for this site so we can ask each other questions and for help. THANKS EVERYONE🙋😊

Helen I have been on gabapentin for a long time and without them I would be completely useless! I am in constant pain and because gabapentin was making me sleep I stopped taking them, then I had a Nasty flare and was glad to go back on them! I take two four times daily and can take paracetamol in between times, Gabapentin helps me sleep as I was not able to sleep for pain all over body! Everyone reacts differently to Meds but if I were you I certainly would persevere for duration of prescription and then decide ! Two days not enough try giving it a chance,Also Fibro people usually sleep in day because they get little sleep at night, At the start of me taking Gabapentin I lost three and four days at a time just slept then woke took more and slept this was my pattern but I am used to taking them now and they sure do take edge of pain. Sending gentle hugs Helenxx
