I live in Ontario Canada and I applied years ago for CPP Disability in January and they sent me a denial in July. I sat and wrote a six page letter, over a few days, explaining how my day to day life sucked from all the pain and how my life was taken away from me! Make sure they know how depressed you are as they seem to recognize that more than fibro. I sent my letter in as I couldn’t afford a lawyer and on Dec 21 I received the best Christmas present ever, their acceptance!!! They are very pleasant to talk to on the phone and don’t make you feel like a loser like most places!! They are very efficient with their payments once you get approved, I received my first lump sum payment for back pay in early to mid January and I haven’t had a problem since with my payment going in direct deposit every third last banking day of the month! Sorry about writing the book but however, if you don’t have any coverage for prescriptions, dental or glasses, you may want to check into a different Disability! In Ontario it is called ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program) so I’m not sure what yours would be called but they give you income plus all the benefits!! Nobody told me about it when I was looking into things but of course after I heard about it, although I have benefits through my husband, and I did send a friend to them as he was in a terrible position and he got it right away and has continued ever since. Plus they have a local office in our little city of 25,000 so you may have one! Again, sorry about the book but I wish I had known so many things when I was going through my hell and the only way we find out is through each other! Good luck!!!
In Louisiana, you have to be off work for a minimum of 1 year to even apply. Who can not work for a year?
Then you are automatically turned down unless you have cancer. You can appeal but you end up needing an attorney which specializes in disability to get you approved. I can’t afford to be on disability. I would receive less than 1/2 of my salary, then wouldn’t qualify for food assistance or other programs because my husband makes too much. It is a lose, lose for us. I am basically working to meet my Rx & Dr Co-payments at this point. 🤦🏼♀️
I wish you the best & hope it works out for you.
If itbis through work that u r doing LTD expect to be told you need to apply for CPPD n you should anyhow.
What provance r u in? Each one has different requirements for the process and what needs to be dun in order to file. There is also provincial disability in many cases that after LTD runs its course you'll be expected to apply for if eligible to do so.
Im in Ontario, Canada
In US almost everyone is turned down the first time. At this point you should find a lawyer who specializes in the disability process. Once he accepts your case he will help you get your disability. ( by the way he gets his fee through the government when he is successful in getting you your disability. So there is no out-of-pocket expense to you!)
