Members connected over the complexities of testing for Lyme disease, with many sharing concerns about false negatives due to less sensitive tests like ELISA, while noting that more advanced options like Elispot and Western Blot exist but may not be available or recognized in all countries. Several members described frustrating experiences with healthcare systems that dismiss or misdiagnose chronic symptoms as fibromyalgia, expressing relief when Lyme is finally identified but also frustration over costly treatments and lack of insurance coverage, particularly for those seeking care across borders. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of navigating both illness and systemic barriers, with members offering empathy and encouragement to pursue accurate testing and treatment despite the obstacles.

@A MyFibroTeam Member exactly. Seems that fibro is a result of a non treated Borrelia. We not only have to fight our deasise but the health system too.

My Botox doctor tested me for a lot of other diseases that mimics the symptoms of fibromyalgia before he started me on my Botox injections. He is a physiatrist for integrative medicine & rehabilitative medicine.

@A MyFibroTeam Member the neglect we face from our health care systems seems to be a worldwide phenomenon. I think they are afraid because our numbers are so high that the cost to deal with us would be too much. Fact is, because we chase the unknown, the cost becomes astronomical.

I have heard that you can get a false negative but not a false positive. I understand the concern around test sensitivity. It is one reason I have not pursued it, too many false negatives. I hope that somehow you can get the support you need and that it leads you to better health. I am not surprised that four doctors said you have Fibromyalgia and now it may be Lyme’s disease. This is what haunts me, I am still not convinced I have Fibromyalgia even though they say I have.
