Does Anyone Else Get Energized To Run An Errand Or Go To The Doctor But Then Just Get So Tired Once The Errand Is Over?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I felt really good at the doctors office. I was making a list of things to do when I got home. I got one thing done and now I want a nap. I really don’t think I am avoiding anything. I want to get stuff done. It is very frustrating.

Yes! It took me a while to realize i could no longer do a two hour grocery trip, then put the groceries away, then prepare supper. Now i do two shorter trips in a week and pick up canned soup and premade salad for supper that day. The days when i feel good in the morning are the ones i tend to wreck, because i think i can do more. Once i figured out my limit, i was a little better at avoiding a crash.🌻

Yes, same here. I am currently out of work because of my extreme fatigue. And even now, I cannot do more than 1 thing at a time. I am full of energy and in an instant I am depleted.

Yes, the thinking is that fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome are basically the same thing - with fibromyalgia having more pain than fatigue, and chronic fatigue syndrome having more fatigue than pain, but they both have both. It's normal to have less energy than you used to have. You may want to google "the spoon theory" - a fellow sufferer came up with a way to explain the tiredness to others.
It's normal. I get energized when I am out and then go do things and then when I'm home, I'm tired. Also, extroverts are energized by others, introverts are energized by being alone, so that could be part of it too.

Yes. I do all my errands in the morning because i can not function in the afternoon. I take a nap everyday at 2pm. If i don't take one, it seems to make my fibro worse. It is what works for me. I make myself lists too and it feels so good to cross stuff off. I try to get something done on the list everyday that i don't have errands to run. It is frusterating to have to nap but do whatever helps you feel better and in the long run yiu will get more done. Hugs

I got into a cycle of resting over Christmas time as I had a bad bug as well as Fibro and Rheumatoid Arthritis and once I did that it has been difficult to get energized again. Each day I try to do a little task so I feel I have accomplished something in the day and I feel better as I am not constantly beating myself up about my lack of energy.
