I will be visiting the Pain Management Specialist at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago tomorrow morning and am at a loss for what should be the first questions I have for him. Any suggestions?

I hope your visit will be very useful for you.
When I went to a pain clinic with a group of others, some of the questions were:

1.What causes fibro pain?
2.Why do we have burning sensation but skin feels cool.
3.Are my medications compatible with each other? We were told to be very careful if taking opiods and use @ibuprofen pills or gel at the same time.

Pain management is about learning how to have a quality of life despite having pain, it usually isn't a cure for the actual pain, but understanding it more does help. They may ask you what you enjoy or used to enjoy doing. What is important in your life?
I hope this info is helpful. Warm hugs ๐ŸŒธ

@A MyFibroTeam Member Thank you so much for the gentle hug on this beautiful sunny but cold day in Chicago. Hope you are having a good day; if you are thinking of going outdoors please be sure to check weather on television or radio before venturing out. If you live where it is severely cold, be sure before you pull out of the driveway or garage you have tucked into your trunk emergency survival supplies (which includes chocolate candy bar) just in case you get stranded.

@A MyFibroTeam Member Thank you VERY much for the prompt response to my question. These are wonderful questions which I will be sure to ask my pain management staff. I am crossing my fingers in the hopes that pain management doesn't simply put me in for physical therapy and that is it because if we do aquatherapy that is one thing I really enjoy and benefitted greatly from in the past so I am hoping they have facilities at Swedish Covenant for that. My new primary care doctor has not only exercise classes but tai chi classes which I hope to be signing up for in near future. Hopefully since I am scheduled for 10:30 office visit tomorrow, I hope therapist has some great suggestions because I am getting restless trying to figure out exercises I can do at home to alleviate the discomfort, especially back discomfort which doesn't react well to cold therapy or heating pad and I want to avoid surgery at all costs. I'll keep everyone posted once I return from appointment at Pain Management Clinic. Gentle hugs and may God bless each of you and your families and keep you safe from all harm.

@A MyFibroTeam Member the first question i asked was: how is it done? How long will it last? And how often do I come? Is there side effects?
