Yes it sounds like TMJ which unfortunately is part of fibromyalgia. How I stopped my jaw from hurting was eliminating foods that made me chew a lot. Such as chewing gum, some types of meat that you really have to use a lot of hard chewing, or anything that that is tough or takes a lot of jaw power to eat.
As soon as I did that my jaw pain stopped. But I tell you, it was the worst and most annoying pain I had.
Maybe you can experiment with your food choices and see if it makes a difference.
I hope you feel better soon.

I have had TMJ (jaw and face pain) and burning mouth for about 7 months. My physical therapist has been doing something called an "acuscope" which is kind of like jumper cables for the nerves. It has brought pain down from about a ten to a five. So it can't be the final solution but it's helped the most. I also know stretching my neck and making sure my jaw is aligned can help calm all the muscles and nerves in the face. Hope that helps!

I also believe when we are having major pain, we unknowingly clench our jaw which is a tough habit to break but then like you say, it starts to give you more pain! Ugh!!!

It sounds like tmj. It will cause your whole face to hurt. It also can cause headaches. It is another wonderful fibro symptom. Lol. Use ice on your face and take ibuprofen if you can. It will calm down the swelling. I have been lucky that mine has not flared up in a very long time. Thank god. I hope it gets better soon. Hugs
