It feels like someone is sat on them and there is some tightening around that area. It is quite painful :(

I find that not only do my ribs hurt at times, but I get what feels like muscles tightening in my back and swelling. When that happens I have trouble breathing. First time it happened my sister was ready to call 911 because I could not get a good breath and almost passed out. Could not go to work that day. Not sure if that is part of the fibro, but have never had it happen before I was diagnosed.

I very often get really bad pain in my ribs under my sternum right down both sides also under my ribs
Also above my breasts up to my collar bone on both sides
When it’s really bad I can feel extremely painful nodules in between my ribs
No amount of ibuprofen or pain relief works occasionally they take the edge off but it seems it has to run its course,
It is a very common complaint with Fibromyalgia unfortunately
Wish you well πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡

It is probably costochondritis. It is a inflamation of the chest wall. I went to the er with it thinking i was having a heartattack. Several people on here have had the same experience. Try ice packs or a heating pad. That is about all you can do for it. I also take ibuprofen since it is an antiinflamatory. I hope you feel better soon.

Extreme IBS was what my doctor could put it down to. I take a couple of Buscopan which gets rid of it quite well.

My flares generally start in my chest area and can get super painful. Sometimes it's hard to breathe. The skin hurts to the touch and along the bottom ridge of my ribs it can be excruciating.
